KYOTO, JAPAN — Shiki Group is pleased to announce that on Thursday, March 19, 2026, a delegation of students from the NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate visited Kyoto to participate in an exclusive seminar exploring the trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping Japan’s real estate and property management landscape.
The seminar, hosted by Shiki Group, brought together graduate-level real estate students with Shiki’s senior leadership for an in-depth discussion on the current state of the Japanese property market, investment strategies, hospitality-integrated real estate, and the nuances of property management in a uniquely historic and dynamic urban environment.
Insights from Shiki Group’s Leadership
The event was led by Masum Shaikh, Chief Operating Officer of Shiki Group, who offered candid, firsthand perspectives on operating and scaling a property portfolio in Japan. Joining him was Shiki’s Marketing & PR Manager, Anna Ayvazyan, who provided additional insights about issues non-Japanese people encounter when looking to buy or invest in Japan.
Despite minor audio-visual technical difficulties encountered during the session, both speakers navigated the circumstances with professionalism and continued to deliver substantive content throughout the talk and an engaging Q&A session. The disruption did little to diminish the quality of dialogue, with students raising thoughtful questions on topics ranging from urban regeneration and foreign investment frameworks to the intersection of traditional Japanese aesthetics and modern hospitality real estate.
